Maher’s Sister Lucy at Ciao Thyme

My palate is eager, and my heart sings in anticipation of Sister Lucy’s visit to Bellingham on October 9th! We will enjoy an Indian inspired meal with Sister Lucy and those gathered at the wondrous Ciao Thyme to imbibe her glowing presence, and to hear her speak. We’re building a bridge between our community, and that of Maher in India, by hosting a secondary fundraiser at our dinner; Lydia Place has a current fundraiser called Adopt A Room, in which we will participate. We will be naming a room at Lydia place, whose mission parallels aspects of Maher’s, in honor of Sister Lucy and Maher. Lucy’s Suite? Suite Lucy? We still need to think of the naming that seems right. Any ideas?

The tickets will be available, starting tomorrow at the Food Co-op downtown. Hope to share this special time of celebrating various ¬†elements of Whatcom’s bounty with many of you!¬†Maher Indian Dinner pdf-page-001-2

Ravi Ravindra October 30: Practices of Living and Dying

Ravi Ravindra returns to our community to offer his thought provoking, soul stirring perspectives that we will explore in community, in a public talk at 8Petals on the evening of October 30th, and in the more in depth nonresidential beautiful setting of Turtle Haven in a weekend retreat, October 31st and November 1st. We will celebrate All Souls Day in the context of our time together. Meditation, forest and river walks, Day of the Dead altar creation and reflection will be at the heart of our time together. Please consider joining us; those who have gathered for Ravi’s offerings over the years, have formed a welcoming circle of continuity and presence, a special dimension of Ravi’s visits to our Northwest corner.¬†Ravi Retreat October 2015 flyer pdf-jpg-001
