Easy Reading: March TH Retreat!

Stillness in Dark and Light: Spring Equinox

Sabbath Residential Retreat at Turtle Haven Sanctuary

Friday, March 20, 7pm to Sunday, March 22, noon

In the gateway time of the Spring Equinox, join with a small group of seekers as you guide your own journey in silence, rest, and reflection.  Held by the natural world and collective stillness, we have a precious opportunity to deeply and clearly center ourselves while listening to embodied wisdom and to our inner True North Star.  Honoring seasonal Sabbath time at Turtle Haven is an evolving dream in the making. All structured elements during the weekend are optional, as you choose what is supportive of your intentions, your time of rest and renewal.  The studio will be open at all times for individual and collective practices throughout the weekend. The land and the labyrinth will welcome your presence.

OPTIONS: On Friday, we will gather for an opening orientation, an intention sharing Council and a simple guided ceremony honoring the dark and the light within and on our planet, with a candlelit altar for offerings.  On Saturday, options include designated silent sitting meditation times, and Yoga Nidra and contemplative Authentic Movement practice, guided by Elizabeth and Jillian. On Sunday, there will be a scheduled silent meditation and a culminating Council.  Laura Smith will offer several times for individual Ayurvedic healing bodywork sessions on Saturday and Sunday. Please contact her blissbody204@yahoo.com  to schedule and arrange payment.

LOGISTICS:  Lodging will be arranged at the Turtle Haven Forest Hermitage and next door at River Root Farm.  More details will be sent upon registration. To register for the Retreat and arrange lodging, please email info@turtlehavensanctuary.com  or call 360.319.8704. Turtle Haven is offering retreats periodically, which include community meditation times, the practice of Council, and an additional opportunity to receive Ayurvedic healing sessions with Laura Smith. One yoga class of a restorative nature is offered, and this time there will be a yoga and Authentic Movement session collaboratively offered by Elizabeth and Jillian. The idea is to share collective rest and restoration in silence, and to engage in contemplative practices independently and together as desired: the more structured aspects are optional. Our Fall offering was a nourishing and beautiful experience. Here is a flyer for the March retreat. Please let me know if you have any questions!

January 21st Class Cancelled

Greetings! While much of the county’s main roads may look clear, the small road back to Turtle Haven seems to be in a deep slushy and icy “snow hold.” I just drove home from Bellingham only to see how poor the conditions remain! I hope all will be clear for 1/28. I will keep watch to see if the Wednesday class also needs to be rescheduled. Please check back, or listen to my voicemail message at 360-303-3892 for updates. Please also share this information wtih others in our yoga community, so everyone knows not to come for the Tuesday class. Thanks for help in spreading the word! This image partially captures the problem– the traction is much worse than it was just a few days ago, with drizzle on top of snow, and remaining cold temperatures! This photograph was taken through my windshield this evening moments ago!

1/15/20 Wednesday Yoga Cancelled

From all appearances as I peer out at the snow beautifully floating downward to earth, and then gaze at the forecast on my computer screen, there seems to be no sense in waiting longer: yoga class for Wednesday evening 1/15 is cancelled and will be rescheduled, in addition to the class from this morning. Will keep students posted! Meanwhile, hoping to resume NEXT week, and that those who are reading this can find pleasure in the beauty of winter weather!
